MIRACLE OF DOLPHINS Composed and Performed by Paul Lloyd Warner
Solo Piano This music is a celebration of dolphins. When the composer was living in Hawaii, he met two dolphin scientific researchers in 1981 who had recorded the sounds of Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins. These tapes were made with a special machine that was able to record the dolphins’ high pitch tones that reached up to 80,000 cycles per second. People can hear up to 22,000 cycles per second. These tapes were slowed down to the range of human hearing and the composer created these piano pieces from these slowed-down dolphin tones. There is also a special treat of Humpback Whale sounds in this recording.

MIRACLE OF DOLPHINS was recorded on a Grotrian piano, a hand-made German instrument with an exquisitely beautiful tone. Inspired by ocean recordings of dolphin sounds slowed down to the range of human hearing, Paul Lloyd Warner transcribed the dolphin tones into piano music. There is both strength and poetry in the performance.
Melodious, often rhythmic, delicate, powerful and transcendent, MIRACLE OF DOLPHINS celebrates the mystery and magic of dolphins. Recorded in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1982, this album allows the listener to enter into the special world of the dolphins and to appreciate their amazing beauty and intelligence.

It was terminal. She was sent to a hospice to live out her remaining days. Her uncle brought her a cassette of the music to bring her peace in the final days of her life. Read the full story
