THE RIVER is one of those exquisite meditation and healing albums that is so peaceful, yet inspiring. THE RIVER by Paul Lloyd Warner The music is both Western and Asian in its language, yet the feel of the compositions is pure, clear and ever flowing.

THE RIVER is scored for harp and the Japanese Bamboo Flute known as the Shakuhachi. The music was composed and recorded as a meditation. Paul Lloyd Warner visited a private Asian style garden at a home in Southern California. It was a Japanese style garden with a small pond surrounded by rare sub-tropical trees and plants. One could see the Pacific Ocean beyond and the visual effect was stunning.

After making two visits to the garden, Paul Lloyd Warner made a decision to create a CD that reflects the beauty of that garden while capturing the flow of water in an atmosphere of serenity.

THE RIVER is a poem set to music. It tells the story of the flow of headwaters from the mountain streams to the full fledged river, coursing through the countryside. As a work of music, THE RIVER, is pure imagery. One can easily imagine the beauty of a river, the reflections in the water from trees along the banks, eddies and ripples seen along the way.

The Shakuhachi, or Japanese Bamboo Flute, a traditional Japanese instrument, is performed together with both solo harp and multiple harps. In this CD, the two musical lines intertwine, forming a blend of both Eastern and Western musical styles, balancing each other in sweet gentle tones.

The music in this CD is flowing and inspirational, ideal for relaxation, reflection and meditation.

Paul Lloyd Warner utilizes 4 keyboards to create this CD. Three keyboards are devoted to harp samples and the 4th keyboard is selected for the Shakuhachi. The performance is recorded in one session without any overdubbing, mixing, sequencing or re-recording. What you hear is exactly what the artist performed, both flute and harp parts simultaneously.
